El Lugar

EL Lugar, which translates to “the place”, is dedicated to producing small lots of vineyard designated Pinot Noir, defined by their place of origin. Coby Parker-Garcia has been making wines for 12 years and fell in love with Pinot Noir long ago and dreamed of creating high quality Pinot Noir from well-known vineyards and AVA's.

Born and raised in San Luis Obispo, Coby took an interest in agriculture at an early age. Attending college in his hometown, he studied Agribusiness Marketing, with a minor in Wine & Viticulture at Cal Poly State University SLO. After broad travels to other wine regions of the world, he was convinced that the wine industry is where his passion existed.

In 2004, Coby was hired as the assistant winemaker at Claiborne & Churchill winery in the Edna Valley. After 3 years of honing his skills under Clay Thompson, he was promoted to head winemaker where.  In 2013, Coby and his wife, Katie, took a leap of faith and made their dream come true by producing their first vintage of the two vineyard-designate Pinot Noir's. The philosophy is to produce the best wines the vintage presents and showcase the vineyard of origin. In style, the wines exhibit great balance, finesse, structure and age-worthiness.
